Although hailing from Charleston, SC, the Explorers Club conjure up memories of Southern California with a mix of pop melodies, vintage production, and Beach Boys-styled harmonies. The band formed in 2005, with 23 year-old Jason Brewer assuming lead vocals and songwriting duties. Multi-instrumentalists James Faust and David Ellis climbed aboard to help round out the band's harmonies, as did bassist/vocalist Wally Reddington. Drummer Neil Thomas and keyboardist Stefan Rogenmoser completed the band's lineup, and the Explorers Club began crafting a sunny sound that recalled classic pop/rock acts from the '60s. After securing placements on popular television shows like #The O.C., the sextet attracted attention from Dead Oceans Records and ultimately joined the label in June 2007.
